On Wednesday May 11th Volunteering WA held its annual Volunteer of the Year Awards at the Hyatt - Perth.
Leading Youth Forward was honoured to be represented in two different categories. LYF itself was a finalist in the Community Volunteer Organisation of the Year Award for Western Australia and LYF’s incredible past president, Dr Ciara Stapleton, was awarded Youth Volunteer of the Year for Western Australia!
It was so fantastic to see Ciara recognised for her outstanding volunteering efforts, making a real difference to the lives of so many. Ciara started volunteering for Edmund Rice Camps in 2004, Uni Camp for Kids in 2006 and ran night-time activities for at risk youth in Broome in 2011. Ciara has also been involved with LYF since its beginnings as Uni Camp for Teens, and she joined the committee as Youth Events Manager before being elected President in 2014. During this time, Ciara has also been completing the Royal Australian College of Physicians Paediatric Training at Princess Margaret Hospital, and she was recently invited to present at the Australian Youth Health Conference in Melbourne to share her experiences about LYF and adolescent resilience and wellbeing.
LYF is so proud of Ciara’s efforts, and her dedication and leadership have helped LYF flourish into the success story it is today.
LYF was also so stoked to be named as a finalist amongst a group of outstanding community volunteer organisations. There is no doubt that the hard work, commitment and passion displayed by LYF’s many volunteers is the key to its success, and it was awesome to celebrate LYF’s achievements so far improving the lives of hundreds of disadvantaged youth across Western Australia.
Looking forward to what the future holds!
