UCFT becomes LYF!

November 2014

On the evening of Thursday the 13th of November, supporters gathered together to acknowledge an exciting new chapter for the charity. In front of volunteers, sponsors, social workers, teens, and parents, Uni Camp For Teens (UCFT) formally changed its name to Leading Youth Forward (LYF).

A word from Leading Youth Forward President on the night:

“I am so very proud to be able to represent what I think is an amazing group of young volunteers who I know to be energetic, committed and inspiring young adults. I know that our volunteers are looking to make a difference for Perth teenagers who, despite difficult circumstances, are equally fun, inspiring, and bound for great things.

As such I look forward to representing this charity, who I believe are known for their commitment to offering improvement and positive opportunities for young people, both adults and teenagers , under the banner of a new name…

Leading Youth Forward would like to thank everyone who joined them on the night to celebrate this exciting change for the charity. A special thank you to Laurell Earle (a Parent of two graduated LYF/UCFT program participants, and a UCFK kid herself from the 1980s) who spoke to the crowd of what the organisations, UCFK and LYF, mean to her family, and also Alex Hughes, from the Department of Child Protection, who spoke of the value of mentorship for both the teens and the volunteers.
